We Socialist Jews express deep indignation at the Pontiff's recent statements and the Vatican's repeated attitude regarding the conflict in the Middle East. Once again, the Holy See has chosen to ignore the suffering of the Jewish people and the systematic violence exercised by Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi against Israel, focusing exclusively on the defensive responses of the Jewish state. We strongly condemn the Vatican's silence on the atrocities committed by Hamas, a terrorist organization that has been oppressing both Palestinians and Israelis for decades, using the civilian population as a human shield to carry out its agenda of hatred, violence and destruction.
